As part of our Cupboard Cocktails series, Inventive Master Mixologist, Hugh Jones shares how to make The Jasmine Age cocktail for you to enjoy at home!
This light, floral cocktail has delicate notes of jasmine mingling with orange, lime and juniper - perfect for the warmer evenings.
It's totally worth making your own lime cordial, which needs to be done at least a day in advance. If you want to enjoy it sooner, use shop-bought cordial.
Ingredients (makes two cocktails)
- Noughty AF or Prosecco
- 50ml Gin (or AF alternative such as Caleno)
- 50ml Jasmine and Orange Green Tea
- 25ml Lime Cordial (make at least 24 hours in advance, recipe below)
- 2 sprigs of jasmine to garnish
Add the gin, tea and lime cordial to an ice filled shaker give a good shake
Strain into two glasses and top up with either our Noughty AF or Prosecco.
Garnish each drink with Jasmine
Lime Cordial Ingredients (makes around 200ml)
- 5 Lime
- 150g Castor Sugar (30g per lime)
- 150ml Water
Step 1 - Make Lime Oleo Saccharum
Take 5 limes, give them a wash under the tap and pat dry with kitchen roll.
Carefully peel all the zest (preferably using a Swiss peeler) and place the zest in a sealable container (keep the naked limes you’re left within the fridge so they won’t dry out)
Cover the zest with 150g of caster sugar - 30g per lime
Seal and leave overnight at room temperature.
Open up the next day and enjoy the smell of this beautifully aromatic aroma.
Step 2 - Make lime cordial
Put the lime peels and syrup in a pan with 150ml warm water and simmer for 10 minutes.
Leave to cool.
Add the juice of one lime and strain into a sterilised bottle.
P.S. Instead of throwing away the peels, these can be used to bake with...
